The bykali buckles are the best buckles I have seen in a long, long time. Not only are they handmade but they are made well and are oozing with style and aesthetics.
I am not a big fan of Etsy, to me it seems Etsy mainly advertises everyone in Portland( that is to say everyone they are friends with) on that site, or friends of their friends. For example: When I go to etsy.com I keep seeing the same 2 shirt companies or the same 2 pillows/accessories shops getting over-advertised on their site and not giving other shops more exposure. Out of all the artists they have featured I would say only a very few are worth even mentioning. And the ones that need to be featured are not.
With that being said and without getting sidetracked of what this post is about, Kali Mellus is an amazing artist that took an idea and made it work. From using nails, industrial materials, to leaves covered by resin, every piece has great detail and craftsmanship. Just the way every piece is made like the "Nail Burst" (pictured above) makes me jealous of her craftsmanship skills and wishing I could make such amazing pieces of art. If you happen to be browsing around in the wonderful etsy.com site, make sure you look at the bykali shop for more awesome buckles.
